WHAT THE PRESS IS SAYING:

Even soccer moms didn't always spend their days shuttling kids around in the minivan, making posters for "love your library" day, and working on their muffin tops at the local health club. Some mommies even have tattoos!”
Cookie Magazine

“This book should be in the home of every tattooed family.”
Prick Magazine

“I’ve never seen a more enjoyable book that covers such a modern-day topic in a changing, more receptive world.”
The Sun Gazette

“Teachers, baby-sitters, even mommies have tattoos these days.”
The Chicago Tribune

““The book is the first ever to talk tattoos to kids and it's an idea whose time has come. What's even better is that it's not published by some slick corporate publishing house trying to cash in on a trend but by a heavily tattooed dude in his Manhattan studio following the DIY ethic and publishing the book himself.”
Needled.com

This book is the latest offering in a category of children's books that celebrates diversity and acknowledges thorny social issues -- sometimes before grown-up pop culture is ready to do the same.”
Winnipeg Free Press

“As more and more of my friends move toward starting their families I can see this book becoming a regular in baby shower baskets.”
BlogHer.com

“I adore this book. It will fit nicely in little hands. The illustrations are bright and clear; with lots of vivid color on the expressive characters and their surroundings... Bottom line: Mommy Has A Tattoo and the companinion Tattoo Coloring Book are adorable additions to any child’s book shelf.”

MOMMY HAS A TATTOO!!!

CHILDREN’S BOOK “MOMMY HAS A TATTOO” SHOWS KIDS TATTOOS ARE ACCEPTABLE!!!

NEW YORK CITY- With nearly half of the American population aged 25-39 tattooed, there are a lot of tattooed parents… Including MOMMIES!!

And what do very young children think when they find out that their mothers are inked? Or that their neighbors, aunts, and other family members have tattoos?

It doesn’t have to be “uh oh”… Phil Padwe knows that!! He has a tattoo… in fact he has quite a few (he has tattoo sleeves)!  Padwe is an artist, designer and writer.  And when he realized that having a tattoo is a source of pride for lots and lots of people who are fast becoming Mommies and Daddies, he knew it would be a source of endless curiosity for their kids, too. And so, Phil has launched his line of books for kids under the imprint, Mommy Has Tattoos.

The first children’s book about tattoos, "Mommy Has a Tattoo tells the story of little James, who is afraid of his tattooed neighbor until he discovers that his own mother has a tattoo as well. The book emphasizes the importance of familiarizing children with tattoos at a young age and eliminates the common notion of “scary” that has sometimes been linked to “tattoos."

Phil Padwe’s first book, Mommy Has A Tattoo, encourages children to be aware and accepting of tattoos everywhere—on their neighbors, for instance... and most likely, on their Mommies. Phil’s charming characters and delightful illustrations show kids that tattoos in fact, are not scary at all. And for a growing segment of the population, these tattooed characters really look like mommy and daddy!

The next book in Padwe’s series is Tattoo Coloring Book #1, in which children can color in an assortment of realistic designs. "Daddy Has A Tattoo" is in production now with a release projected for 2008.
